…Republicans regaining control of the House of Representatives got you down? We all know this two party system is bullshit anyway. So, let’s turn off and tune out the talking heads on CNN and scope out a cross-section of the news from around the punk rock world. Cheer up, here’s the Bruise News!

Going OFF!
The guys from OFF! (Keith Morris of Circle Jerks and Black Flag on vocals, Dimitri Coats of Burning Brides on guitar, Steve McDonald of Red Kross on bass and Mario Rubalcaba, former pro skateboarder and drummer of Rocket From the Crypt and Hot Snakes) continue to churn out thrash-ready hardcore bits for your enjoyment; this time in the form of a free mp3 download of the track Jeffrey Lee Pierce (some may remember the song’s namesake as the deceased frontman of punk/blues act The Gun Club). Just a morsel of what’s to come on November 23rd, when all 4 EPs will be available digitally or as a  7 inch boxset with original artwork by Ray Pettibone.

Blag hits the airwaves with Radio like you want!
Speaking of free downloads, Blag Dahlia (Dwarves) and Mike Routhier (former host of Neat Neat Noise) are offering free podcasts of past episodes of their new show Radio Like You Want! on With past guests like Excene Cervanka and Jello Biafra (and an upcoming interview with Eric Davidson of the New Bomb Turks); segments like Globetrotter, It Came From the Garage and the Estrogen OD and the promise of “dirty stories from horrible people”the show is certain to become an instant classic.

Social Distortion’s Hard Times……

Rumors have swirled for a couple years now that Mike Ness and company have been working on a follow up to Social Distortion’s last album, 2004’s Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll. And although 7 years have passed, eager fans shouldn’t be disappointed when Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes finally makes its way to record stores on 01/18/11; reports have it clocking in at a lengthy 55 minutes of outlaw anthem-try.

Flogging Molly alive behind the studio door
And while we’re still on the topic of new releases, everyone’s favorite Celtic folk punks Flogging Molly are heading back into the studio to begin recording on an as-of-yet-unnamed new album. The albums tentatively slated for release sometime in the first half of 2011, most likely coinciding with the band’s annual Green 17 tour (centered around the St. Paddy’s Day season).

Hometown Bro-down
Did somebody say holidaze? That’s right, the days are growing shorter and the air is getting colder; keeping with a Yuletide tradition the Mighty Mighty Bosstones have announced their 13th annual Hometown Throwdown.
